Hey everyone, it's LeRhonda (LRon) here, and today I want to talk about one of my favorite topics: mindfulness. Specifically, I want to explore the neuroscience of mindfulness and how practicing mindfulness can actually change your brain.
So, what is mindfulness? At its most basic level, mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment. It involves paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations without judgment or distraction.
Research has shown that practicing mindfulness can have a wide range of benefits, including reduced stress and anxiety, improved cognitive function, and better emotional regulation. But how exactly does mindfulness achieve these effects? The answer lies in the way that mindfulness changes the brain.
One of the key areas of the brain that is affected by mindfulness practice is the prefrontal cortex. This is the part of the brain that is responsible for decision-making, problem-solving, and other higher-level cognitive functions.
